Project Description
The general objective of this artistic project, which was developed in Malpartida de Cáceres during the months of October and December 2021, consisted of analyzing the role played by visual language and, more specifically, the image multiplied in the reconstruction and representation of the past as well as in the evocation and recovery of memory.
The process of creation, which constituted the most important part of the project, would not have been possible without the relational factor, which allowed us to appeal to the past to recover roots, individual and collective identity and rebuild the territory as a landscape of memory. To recreate these landscapes, I based myself fundamentally on the stories that the neighbors of the village shared with me during the different encounters. After collecting these testimonies, which described the memory,
always subjective, of transformed landscapes, of routines of the past and of customs or traditions linked to the territory that have already disappeared, I reproduced the emotions captured throughout these conversations and generated a kind of landscape appearances, visual translations of the voice of memory, sometimes vague and confusing; others reinvented and dreamed; and others clear and bright.
The technique used, which we could place within the field of expanded printing, has been that of the superposition of layers and illustrated and cut elements that I assembled in parallel to the discourse of the different actresses involved.
