Tales of a magical apple going up the mountain to echo the anger of men, a lioness taking the appearance of a seductive woman to avenge her little one, or a couple reunited in its original form, that of a snake... This collection of stories explores one of the genre’s greatest motifs: metamorphosis. Transformations, spells and anthropomorphism are brought together in these thirteen traditional tales from the popular culture of countries as varied as Chile, Japan, Greece, Niger, Colombia, Portugal, Morocco, Peru, China, Himlaya and the Amazon.
